On Wednesday the cat run arrived in typical flat pack packaging but without the usual cardboard due to the size of it.
After some sorting of the different modules and studying the instructions (one A4 sheet) we set out to assemble the cat run. Everything needed was there except for the drill and drilling machine. A drill was acquired and the first part of the cat run was assembled. It only took 2 hours.
I In the one end of the run there is a door. However with clever ocicats – and other cats as well – you need to have two doors to prevent the cats from escaping. Two doors also make it less stressful to enter and exit the run. The second door is attached at the end with the door so that you enter the cat run directly from the door of the house. Attaching a third door will enable you to have direct access to the garden from the house provided the door to the cat run is closed.
Also there is a difference in level between the height of the door in the house and the cat run. Here we attached a small mesh to close the gap.
Finally a lock is attached to all doors. A padlock should be used to secure the doors.
The cats all enjoy the new cat run.
The cats have already had a visit by the neighbour cat. An added bonus is the swifts living under the roof. See all pictures of the cat run here: |
